The Tarka Rail Association is a voluntary organisation which exists to support and
further the interests of users of the rail line between Exeter and Barnstaple.
With
a membership of over two hundred, the Association issues a magazine three times a
year, containing articles by members and by other individuals connected with organisations
that have something relevant to say with regard to the line's past, and its present
and future prospects. Through the magazine, members are kept informed of all developments
related to the line -
We believe that our role as an independent advocate for the line is particularly important, and we fulfil this role by developing positive working relationships with the other stakeholders in the line, including
* railway companies (principally Network Rail and the train operator),
* local councils,
* multi-
and, most importantly for us,
* existing and potential users of the line, and the communities it serves.
Our recent efforts have resulted in the introduction of a “clockface timetable”,
with trains departing at the same time past the hour for much of the day. The Tarka
